Boxing is Back in Atlantic City

Over the years Atlantic City has hosted many great Championship Boxing Events. The best names in boxing have fought in Atlantic City, for example: Mike Tyson, Virgil Hill, Arturo Gotti, Floyd Mayweather, Evander Holyfield, Sugar Ray Leonard, Lennox Lewis, Riddick Bowe, Oscar De La Hoya and many more. On December 2, 2006 Atlantic City Boxing comes alive again. Here are the details of the upcoming fights at Boardwalk Hall.

Atlantic City, NJ – SHOWTIME Entertainment continues to live up to its billing as America 's No. 1 Boxing Network by televising the most compelling championship fights on the first Saturday of every month. The memorable 20 th anniversary year of SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING will conclude in sensational style on Saturday, Dec. 2, with an outstanding world championship doubleheader featuring two of boxing's most dynamic performers, Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito, live at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City (9 p.m. ET/PT, delayed on the west coast).

In the first of the two co-featured main events on SHOWTIME, Margarito (33-4, 1 NC, 24 KOs), the exciting, hard-hitting, World Boxing Organization (WBO) 147-pound champion will defend his crown against WBO No. 5 contender Joshua Clottey (30-1, 1 NC, 20 KOs).

The second championship bout of the night will pit undefeated Cotto (27-0, 22 KOs) against fellow undefeated Puerto Rican, southpaw Carlos Quintana (23-0, 18 KOs ), for the vacant World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight title.

Bob Arum's Top Rank, Inc., in association with Northeast Promotions and Caesars Atlantic City, will promote the twin bill.

A bonafide superstar in the making, the popular, crowd-pleasing Cotto, of Caguas , Puerto Rico , was his country's 2004 and ‘05 Fighter of the Year.

Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa Atlantic City Concert Schedule

The new Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa Expansion is now open (summer of 2006). The New Expansion includes a larger completely modern Borgata Poker Room, an additional Casino Table Games area, a new Ultra Lounge called Mur Mur, new incredible restaurants including Wolfgang Puck's "American Grille", "Bobby Flay Steak" and Michael Mina's "SeaBlue". You must see it to beleive it!

The Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa is the newest hotel and casino to hit Atlantic City in more than a decade and adds a new, hip look and feel to Atlantic City. The Borgata Casino Hotel is a $1.1 billion resort and offers world-class spa services, fantastic restaurants, great entertainment and 2,002 luxurious guest rooms, all with panoramic views of the ocean and bay. The décor of the Borgata Hotel Atlantic City is most definitely contemporary, with a European feel of clean lines and usable space. Each floor of the Borgata Hotel and Spa also features a 1,500 square-foot suite, each appointed with a living and dinning room area as well as all of the other standard amenities.

As for entertainment and recreation, the Borgata Hotel and Casino features a 1,000-seat Music Box Theater and an Event Center that can seat as many as 2,100 people. The Borgata Hotel and Spa also maintains 11 restaurants, one of which is a Latin-Asian themed restaurant that turns into a nightclub at night, and another that’s a specialty Tequila bar where you can sip on more than 18 different varieties of the liquor. The Borgata Casino Hotel also features a daily Poker tournament, specialty weekend tournaments, and hosts World Poker Tour tournaments within the hotel. Surprisingly, the winter rates for the Borgata Hotel Atlantic City are very reasonable, but be prepared to pay through the nose for this particular style of luxury on the weekends during high season, rates can run over $399 for a Classic room and upwards of $500 for a suite during the summer months.
