Atlantic City Limousines - Limos for Fun!

Atlantic City Limos - Limousines
The Great Transportation Debate…Limo or no limo, that is the question !
The old saying goes that “getting there is half the fun”. When planning a trip to Atlantic City, getting here is essential. The overwhelming majority of our city’s clientele drives in or takes a bus. The small amount that do fly in, either into Atlantic City International or Philadelphia International, still has to make it into Atlantic City itself. If your trip involves more than a sedan’s worth of people, and there is a singular destination in mind (e.g.: bachelor party that’s playing golf) there is only one way to go: get a limo.
There are the obvious reasons to hire a limo: sure, it’s flashy. When you pull up in front of the casino someone might mistake you for a reality show star or something like that. Exotic rides are even better: despite a recent popularity surge, stretched Hummers are still not all that prevalent on city streets. Your personal wow factor is directly proportional to the wow factor of the vehicle. But more than that, there are good, solid, practical reasons for paying to be chauffeured when you visit Atlantic City, or anywhere else for that matter.
#1 – Why Drive?
Especially for golf outings, bachelor or bachelorette parties, or any large same-day or overnight social gathering, the idea of driving to the event does stink. If it makes any sort of sense logistically, the limo, van, party bus, etc. should be directed to a pickup spot that is convenient for at least a majority of those attending. If 12 guys are partying on a Friday night and you all live somewhat close together, book the car to come to the home of the most conveniently located member of the group. Limo prices can be shocking upon first quote, but often turn into a small line-item when dividing everything up. Make no mistake, limos are expensive and they have every right to be: they’re a large, heavy vehicle that is not terribly fuel-efficient, and they need to be driven by a person who has an appreciable level of training. They are also quite expensive to build and outfit. All this being said, no one can argue the fun, convenience, and safety that a limo brings to your party. See below for all the info.
#2 – Fun
For those of us who aren’t CEO’s, being in a limo never gets old. It’s just plain fun. When I went on my last cruise in May, I booked a stretch limo to take me from my house to the pier. My girlfriend and I sipped champagne and watched the traffic go by while relaxing and getting our buzz on. Leaving for a trip is often the last stressful moment before the trip itself: did anyone forget anything, etc. Not for us that day. I believe it was in large part due to us not having to park, drive, and worry about getting to the ship on time.
#3 – Convenience
Money may not necessarily buy happiness, but it can buy a reduction in stress. A limo company’s sole purpose is to get you from Point A to Point B in comfort, safety, and style. Why people would opt away from a service like that assuming that it’s logistically and financially feasible is totally beyond me. Also, let’s not forget that the typical large party that comes to the city’s casinos is not a stationary group. The average bachelor party that I come across in my work makes at least two stops: from pickup into town, then they will get picked up to go to the daytime activity (fishing, golf), back to the hotel, out to dinner, and then after dinner to a club, sometimes of the gentleman’s variety and sometimes not. The financial side of paying for the service is easily neutralized by keeping in mind the absence of stress that results.
#4 – Safety
When was the last time you heard about a tragic limousine accident? Right, that’s what I thought. Limo companies, no matter the type of vehicle you book with them, have to have people driving for them with excellent safety records. Anyone who knows New Jersey knows how bad our car insurance situation has been over the last few years, and professional providers of transportation are not immune to those problems.
Now that I’ve made the case for limos, I’ll tell you where to go to get the best of them in our fair city:
There are really only two kids on the block in the local limo business, and the older of the two is Atlantic Limousine. Atlantic has been in business since the 1920’s, and the Geiger family that runs it can easily be called the first family of transportation in Atlantic City. While they do have sedans and party buses, their main focus is on limos. Atlantic is the contract provider for high roller services to most of the casinos. They are definitely a solid choice for limo or car services.
The new kid in town is Torgro Limousine Service. They are Atlantic’s only real competition, and they have made the concierge’s life easier by having a few exotic vehicles available in town. It used to be that if I had a guest that wanted a stretched car or SUV, I used to have to use companies around Cherry Hill or Philadelphia. There’s a company in Cherry Hill that has a stretched Infiniti QX56 that seats 20 people…talk about wow factor. Torgro’s offerings include a stretched Hummer, a Ford Excursion, Lincoln Navigator, and best of all, a stretched Dodge Magnum. I think that Magnum looks cooler than anything else around here. People are somewhat used to seeing the stretched Navigator or Hummer – what they’re not used to (yet) is that Dodge. If you want to turn heads, it’s the way to go.
Have fun and enjoy the new Atlantic City, NJ!
